 ‘Donna Haraway says “in becoming-dog one does not acquire fur or paws”. In becoming with you I find myself attuned to a multi species world’ 


&#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; Becoming-with Proteus documents a series of research-based encounters with the cave-dwelling 'human fish', or 'baby dragon'. A journey through caves, laboratories and archives explores the interconnectedness of human activity and subterranean ecologies.
 Developed in dialogue with researchers, biologists, archivists and kite makers, the project explores questions such as; Which creatures do we care about and make kin with? How might subsurface intelligences and communities help us to consider the protection of shared common life-sustaining resources, such as groundwater?

The fishponds of the Třeboň Basin in the South Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic are a complex human-made network of over 500 ponds, which, over time, have fused with the area’s ecology and play an essential role in flood management. The half-millenium old fish ponds are still managed and maintained today. In the film, a researcher considers how the Třeboň pond system might be managed and controlled by robotics. A research institute develops a digital twin of the traditional ‘Master Pondkeeper’. 
Developed through conversations, collaborations and field research during a one month residency at the Czech institute of Informatics, Robotics and Cybernetics, the work investigates AI stewardship and digital twins seeking to model and manage complex ecologies and landscapes. In trying to create digital twins of ecologies, what do we edit out via methods of data collection &#38;amp; modelling practices?

TARASA is a research project focusing on the rights and voices of rivers worldwide. The artists respond to the recent granting of legal personhood rights to a river and a mountain in New Zealand and elsewhere. The project was born during FIBER Festival’s virtual Weaving With Worlds lab in the summer of 2021.
The collective have run a number of public collective river understanding and co-worldbuilding workshops. ‘The Rivers Journey: a guided river interaction’ was held at FIBER Festival 28 + 30 October 2021, and another held at The Holland Festival in June 2022. During this workshop, the public is invited to explore and amplify the 'voice' of water through deep listening, walking and co-making methods.

This multifaceted blueprint is a collaboration between Cristina Napoleone, Ibelisse Guardia Ferragutti, Nayeli Vega, Jemma Woolmore, Jenny Handley &#38;amp; Lily McCraith. The collective uses the name TARASA - The All Rivers and Species Act. The group considered stories of person-hood; the many global perspectives on the non-human; the lives and rights of water. With a particular interest in technology, TARASA collaborated with machine learning AI-tool GTP2, to generate a fictional legal text (read here), which was instructed by various models interacting with each other.
The group channelled the voice of the act through a specific creature, in a visualised organic woven combination of River life. Drawing from images of waterways around the world, several soundscapes were extracted as imagined by AI machine Imaginary Soundscape. These soundscapes are combined with actual aural interactions from Rivers the members could connect with near their homes across the world.

&#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; The aim of surveying is to capture the real situation “outside” as reliably as possible and then transfer it to maps, plans and other outputs”
LiDAR scanners are usually expensive pieces of equipment, used in industries such as surveying and GIS to capture spaces, buildings and objects in 3D. I was interested in using laser scanning and point clouds for my own practice but could not afford to buy one. I began making a low cost DIY LiDAR point cloud scanner at home using readily available components and hand tool, thus disrupting the heirarchies and barriers of surveying as a discipline and knowledge making practice.

Parallel investigations into a current oil drilling proposal on the Isle of Wight, and a coal mine in Cumbria and DIY environmental mapping, sensing and modelling techniques. I have been developing kite aerial photography and photogrammetry techniques as a way of visualising the site from above; a kind of analogue drone powered by wind energy. I am now experimenting with AR to generate alternative ways of visualising and experiencing the potential plans. How can the public visualise, interact with and understand ecological implications of these plans?
I have since developed an inventory of DIY tools for mapping &#38;amp; sensing during a residency at Makerversity in Somerset House. Throughout this process, I have also
initiated conversations with community groups such as Public Lab, the Aerocene foundation
and more local kite enthusiasts. This work culminated in a residency at Makerversity and
work was shown at London Design Festival.
